Scene macros are lost when a workspace is imported

Scene macros (Scene Editor, primary and secondary macro) are written to the file when a workspace is exported, but they are not read back on import.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In the Scene Editor, add a primary macro to a scene, for example the Cubase command “Workspace 1”. Tapping the scene icon runs it: fine.
  2. Export the workspace. The .mspace file contains the two <macro platform="0" id="0"> elements inside the <scene>.
  3. Delete the workspace and import that same file.
  4. Open the Scene Editor: primary and secondary macros are empty.

Everything else in the workspace comes back correctly: grids, scene icons, “switch on incoming MIDI CC”.

Hi vinc,

Thank you for the precise report. We checked the MetaGrid Pro 1.7.7 production code and confirmed the mismatch you described.

The exporter writes scene macros without the primary/secondary markers that the importer expects. The importer consequently skips those macros while restoring the other scene settings.

We’ve added the correction to the planned MetaGrid Pro 1.7.8 update. This includes preserving both macro roles in new exports and designing compatibility handling for previously exported files, where the original macro roles may be ambiguous.

Your description gives us enough information to reproduce and test this in-house—there’s no need to send anything or repeat the test. Please keep your original exports intact.

Thanks again for catching this and documenting it so clearly.
