Question about iTunes

I understand that iTunes no longer installs the USB something or other???
Am I safe to update iTunes and what is the software I need to install in order for my iPads to connect with my PC?

Maybe I’m lucky, but I never used USB connection with my PC always connecting with WI-FI without any problems. I didn’t upgrade to the latest metaserver version though and I didn’t upgrade the Metagrid app on my main iPad too, I’m still on 1.6.4. I do use USB connection with my Mac instead

To ensure a full iTunes installation on Windows, including all necessary components like Bonjour and Apple Mobile Device Support, follow these steps:

1. Download iTunes from Apple’s Website (Not the Microsoft Store)

The Microsoft Store version of iTunes may not install Bonjour or Apple Mobile Device Support correctly. Instead, use the direct download from Apple:

• Go to Apple’s official iTunes download page:

• Click “Looking for other versions?” and select the Windows (64-bit) or Windows (32-bit) installer.

2. Install iTunes Manually

• Run the downloaded .exe file.

• During installation, ensure that “Bonjour” and “Apple Mobile Device Support” are selected.

• Restart your computer after installation.

3. Verify Installation of Required Components

After installation, check if Bonjour and Apple Mobile Device Support are installed:

Bonjour Service:

• Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

• Look for “Bonjour Service” in the list. If it’s there and running, you’re good.

• If missing, download Bonjour Print Services for Windows separately from Apple.
