MetaGrid Pro on MAC not running

With Metaserver 5.0, Metagrid Pro 1.6.2, on MacBook Pro with OS 14.6.1, the Metagrid App for Mac is not running. I only get the little wheel and "Metagrid Pro not responding.
I´ve downloaded the App from the Apple platform just 1 hour ago.

Have you installed the previous version of MetaGrid Pro on your Mac?

No, I’ve installed the latest. You’ve mentioned some hours ago, that Apple has put it online.
And in App Store was this version, which says it’s 1.6.2

Thanks for the info. Now, can you remove it and reinstall it again? Make sure it is the “right” app - the Mac app should have the menus in the menu bar.

Thanks for reply. I’ve deleted metaserver and metagrid already 2 times, re-installed it, no difference.
I’ve got the Mac app in the store… it was clearly named as Mac app and shows the compatibility „with this Mac“ down in the description…

Can you run MGP on your Mac without MetaServer running?

It doesn’t show up, but says MGP „ not responding“

On my Mac Studio M1 with the same OS and apps it’s running. I’ve no idea what’s the difference on the MacbookPro M1.
Let’s close the question for now, I’ve to dig deeper what’s the difference on the machines…
I’ve tried to keep them synched…
Thanks

Hi-
I downloaded the correct Mac Desktop app for Metagrid Pro, I launched it and I have the menu bar with all of the desktop app options indicating it isn’t the ipad version…but it’s running the same “scanning for computers” process that the iPad app runs and then says it “Can’t find this computer on your network 4.0.0.0 or later”. Is the desktop app supposed to “connect” like the ipad app? I tried to manually connect it by inputting my Host Name and IP address but that didn’t work either? What am I doing wrong?

Ok…a few things.
I have had Metaserver setup in “USB Connection only” mode.
That apparently prevents the desktop app from connection.
I then switched to enabling TCP. That also prevents the desktop app from connecting. So, for me, to get the desktop app to connect and my iPad, I had to make sure NOTHING was selected on the network setup tab within MetaServer.
So now both the desktop app and my iPad are connected via WIFI UDP. I hope that connection is as snappy as the USB connection is.
Does this all sound correct?

Ben - thank you for the feedback. Mac app still connects to the server but on the local port. MetaServer is a central communication hub for both Mac / iPad. This way you can connect a Mac application on one Mac with a touch screen to another Mac.

It should be possible to connect your iPad through USB and connect it Mac app through the local host.

We will see if it is possible to handle this more elegantly and “separate” Mac app connectivity.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

I disconnected and quit the app on my iPad, and then plugged the USB back in and Launched MGP on the iPad. It now indicates that it connected via USB.
So one key is I think that you can’t have “USB ONly” selected in Metaserver because that prevents the desktop app from connecting.
All seems to be working well now with both the Desktop app and ipad app. I have none of the options selected in the Metaserver network setup window.
