MetaGrid Pro 1.7.4 Released

MetaGrid Pro 1.7.4 is now available.

This hot fix release adds new AI Builder targeting, wired-Ethernet support, Cubase and Nuendo automation feedback, and multi-button export. It also improves connection recovery, editing reliability, MIDI state restoration, and several interface workflows.

Important: MetaGrid Pro 1.7.4 requires MetaServer Mac 6.1.4 or MetaServer Windows 6.0.4.

New

  • Choose Mac or Windows as the target platform in AI Builder. The selection is preserved across buttons, Menu Buttons, pasted content, temporary edits, and regeneration.
  • Connect an iPad to MetaServer using a compatible wired Ethernet adapter.
  • Use bidirectional Cubase and Nuendo Selected Channel Read and Write automation feedback.
  • Export multiple selected buttons in one operation.

Improved

  • AI Builder navigation remains visible with Bluetooth and software keyboards.
  • Improved recovery after sleep, wake, screen saver, display sleep, app backgrounding, and Mac lock.
  • More reliable automatic and manual reconnection when the saved connection and rediscovered MetaServer use different Wi-Fi endpoints.
  • Host-unavailable overlays wait until editing is finished instead of interrupting your work.
  • Wi-Fi-disabled messages no longer suggest that Wi-Fi is required when a working USB connection is available.
  • Incoming MIDI state is restored more reliably for latching switches, including correct channel and MIDI-port matching.
  • Menu Buttons expose all 13 supported entries while preserving access to larger legacy Menu Buttons.
  • Closing a menu by tapping outside it no longer activates the grid object underneath.
  • Palette overwrite confirmation appears without the previous apparent freeze.
  • Successful exports now use non-blocking completion feedback.
  • Connectivity queues, heartbeat handling, and latency measurement remain responsive under sustained traffic.
  • The dashboard remains populated after leaving Edit mode on iPad and Mac Catalyst without requiring a window resize.
  • Refreshing Custom Icons restores the cached icons immediately and keeps subsequent updates connected.
  • Very Slow and Slow Repeat On Hold presets now provide more useful pacing for longer macros.

Fixed

  • Localized Cubase empty insert slots, including French “Effet Nul,” work correctly with First Free and User Selectable.
  • Custom XY Controller labels remain visible while either axis is locked.
  • Fixed a grid-list crash when opening a workspace with a missing optional profile.
  • Undo after Macro Reset restores the macro name and actions in the open editor.
  • Text action edits are preserved after Return, Done, selection changes, and interactive dismissal.
  • Fader Style Copy now includes Hide Cap Text.
  • Switch gradient controls follow the explicitly selected Off or On editing state.

If you encounter a problem, please create a separate support topic and include your MetaGrid Pro version, MetaServer version and platform, operating-system versions, connection type, reproduction steps, and support packages where applicable.

I was happy to see both Metagrid Pro and Metaserver were updated today, however I’m now having a visual issue with Metagrid Pro when trying to add or edit any grids. As you see in the photo, there is no menus anymore–just vertical lines. I have two iPad Pros, and both are having this issue.

Thank you for reporting this. The issue has been fixed in MetaGrid Pro 1.7.5, which is scheduled to become available later today.

The behavior was caused by an upcoming interface change being included prematurely in the 1.7.4 production build. Version 1.7.5 restores the established context bar behavior and also improves recovery after sleep, screen locking, and connection changes.

Please update to 1.7.5 when it becomes available and let us know if you encounter any further problems.
