Cubase 15 + MetaGrid Pro Selected Channel not persisting / plugin list not loading (Windows 10)

Hello,

I am trying to set up MetaGrid Pro with Cubase 15 on Windows 10, but I have encountered a problem with the Selected Channel integration.

My setup:

  • Windows 10 PC
  • Cubase Pro 15 (latest version)
  • iPad Pro running MetaGrid Pro
  • MetaServer running on Windows
  • loopMIDI used for virtual MIDI ports

The problem:

After adding Selected Channel in Cubase MIDI Remote Manager, it appears to load correctly. The device shows as connected.

However:

  1. After closing and reopening Cubase, the Selected Channel device disappears from MIDI Remote Manager.

  2. The Selected Channel interface inside Cubase shows many functions, but they appear inactive/disconnected.

  3. On the iPad side, MetaGrid Pro does not show the Cubase plugin list.

  4. The plugin page previously showed:

    “Couldn’t load plugins - timeout”

Things I have already checked:

  • MetaServer is running correctly.
  • MetaServer shows green check marks for the integrations.
  • Cubase MIDI Remote Manager can detect Selected Channel.
  • Selected Channel has been added successfully.
  • MIDI input/output names were configured according to the MetaGrid instructions.
  • Commands and Selected Channel were tested separately.
  • There are currently no JavaScript errors in Cubase MIDI Remote Console.

Previously I had a script error:

TypeError: undefined not callable
(property 'accessSlotAtindex' of [object Object])

but this error no longer appears after reinstalling/reconfiguring.

My current suspicion:

The biggest issue may not be the iPad connection itself, but that Cubase is not saving/persisting the Selected Channel MIDI Remote device.

Because every time Cubase restarts, Selected Channel disappears, it seems the integration is not being permanently registered.

I am also going to test with an original Apple USB cable for the iPad connection, although I understand MetaGrid Pro normally communicates through MetaServer/network rather than direct USB MIDI.

Could anyone advise:

  1. Is Selected Channel supposed to remain permanently in Cubase MIDI Remote Manager after restarting Cubase?
  2. Is there any additional installation step required for Cubase 15 on Windows?
  3. Is there a specific file/location where the MIDI Remote device registration is stored?
  4. Are there known compatibility issues with Cubase 15 + Windows 10?

Thank you very much for any help.

Hi Wayne,

Can you please update to MetaGrid Pro 1.7.3 and MetaServer 6.0.3 and see if it solved your issues?
