Having used and loved metagrid in the dim and distant past I thought I’d give it a go on my new macbook air, but it looks like only newer versions of metaserver which only support Metagrid Pro are available on this hardware/OS. No worries thought I, I’ll get the 7 day trial of premium… but I just can’t get it to work.
There is no problem with Metagrid on the iPad spotting and connecting to Metaserver on the mac, indeed if I switch between Final Cut pro and Logic the grid on the ipad switches to match the application… Great!
But the grid doesn’t allow me to control the application…. when I hit play on the grid my mac shows me the “metagrid would like to control this computer” dialogue box. This happens even when I’ve already set metagrid to have access to all of Automation, Input monitoring and Accessibility and also turned the firewall off. I’ve rebootted the mac and ipad with no success.
I’ve also removed metaserver several times, removed the preferencecs file in /Library/ on the mac and reinstalled. I’ve rebooted the mac and ipad wiht no success.
I’ve also read through the entire guide on the website ( Dropbox ) which by the way doesn’t correctly link to this forum (An error occurred during a connection to forum.metasystem.io. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s).)
What have I missed???
Screenshots - I can’t include screen shots of all of the seperate privacy and security settings where I’ve enabled metasever, because apparently new users can’t upload more than one item. So here is one:
-
Operating System (OS version): Sequioa 15.7 on M4 macbook Air
-
MetaGrid Pro version: 1.6.13
-
Metaserver: 5.3.2
-
Device Model (e.g., iPad, Mac): Ipad A16 - IPadOS 18.6.2
-
Affected software version (e.g., Cubase 14): Logic Pro 11, Final Cut pro 11.
Would be amazing if someone could help me get this working before the free trial runs out. Thank you!
