This is an old problem that has never been fixed or answered. In Cubase, V14 (it was v13 last time), windows 11, I am still getting data sent from mestasystem on cc 52 and 58. When I hit record and stop, midi data is sent, and what is even more strange is that the 2 data points show up before I hit record!!
Here is a video, first is my keyboard, no cc 52 or 58. then I go to metasystem in and when i hit record then stop, i get the data for cc52 and 58, you will see that in the midi data the time is before i record! that is, i start at measure 25 but the data is at measure 24.
Ok, let’s debug it. MetaServer should not send anything by itself. If you disable MetaServer Cubase Out port in the generic remote controllers - doesn’t this issue still appear?
In device setup I turned off all midi out, I have no external midi. That worked. I did not turn off one at a time, which I should have done, but nonetheless, I am no longer getting the phantom data.
Thanks.
Okay, so I found another issue with ghost data. In Cubase, when i was switching tracks and also using the ‘Solo’ button, I was getting weird behavior in my synths. I found out when I turned off Metasys Midi Out from my ‘in All Midi’ the data disappeared. I have attached which one I unchecked in the setup, and also the data that it was sending.
Is this data supposed to be sent when switching tracks or hitting the ‘Solo’ button? Is this used for chasing track change info? If I do not have this in ‘All midi’ is there a problem?
Thanks,
Brett
bump, is this proper behavior?
We are investigating this at the moment doing some MIDI handling improvements that will come in MGP 1.6.5.
Hi
Same problem here.
I applied a cc MIDI filter in Cubase Preferences to avoid the problem.
I thought CC52 and 58 was being sended from my M-Audio Pro88 Keyboard.
Ipad 9º generation
ipadOs 18.2.1
Windows 11 Pro
Metaserver 5.0.3
Metagrid Pro 1.6.4
Cubase 14.0.10
Guys - can you check which MIDI port is a culprit there on your systems?
I tried one by one and CC52, and 58 (when record) appears after activated Metasystem MIDI OUT “ALL MIDI” box
See MIDI monitor:
Do you have metasystem3.xml Generic Remote added to Cubase?
Maybe I miss something configuring Cubase 14?
These are my Generic remote devices (Generic remote 1 is my M-audio keystation Pro 88)
The last image (metasystem3.xml) is cropped and I can’t see the MIDI port assignments - please remove port assignments - set it to no ports and see if the problem persists.
yes, that’s this one - remove the port assignments and see if the problem persists.
No problem after removed those ports
OK, so that’s solved. MetaGrid 1.6.5 will support an additional MIDI port called Metasystem - Cubase Sync that will support all the bi-directional communication with Cubase. Metasystem - MIDI will be reserved for MIDI Notes and CCs you want to register on your tracks and it should stay in the All MIDI as Enabled, other Cubase related MIDI ports - Metasystem - Cubase and Metasystem - Cubase Sync should be excluded from All MIDI.
So please wait patiently for MetaGrid Pro 1.6.5 to land in January with tons of Cubase goodies.
