MetaGrid Pro on a large touch display in Pete Martin studio

Huge moment for MetaGrid Pro! :fire:

Pete Boxta Martin just shared the first-ever video of MetaGrid Pro running on a large-format touchscreen in his studio — and it looks incredible.

Seeing MGP integrated into a workflow like Pete’s, surrounded by top-tier gear, shows exactly how far the app can go when placed in the hands of real creators.

The responsiveness, the scaling, the fluidity — this is MetaGrid Pro on a whole new level.

Massive thanks to Pete for showcasing this setup.

I keep seeing videos of people using Stream Deck, and I’m like ‘Hello… have you not heard about MetaGrid?’ Duh!!

Great, but I’m wondering where’s Metagrid Pro running? Is it running on a Mac with a custom touch screen?

Yes, it is running on his Mac workstation but the optimal setup would be MetaGrid Pro on Mac running on a secondary Mac connected through WiFi to his main workstation. MacOS has got limitations regarding app in focus management etc.

Yes that’s why I asked, I encountered some of this limitations while running Metagrid on Mac; now I’m wondering if resuscitating my old Mac Mini Intel could be useful as repurposing it as a Metagrid Machine. Could Metagrid Mac run on macOS 10.15? (that’s the latest version my old Mac Mini 2012 can run)

What monitor is Pete using? It would be good to know some other monitors as well that offer good touch compatibility with MacOS.

I’m interested in that as well—since it’s an ideal way to recycle underpowered older machines, it would be a real gift to users to keep the Mac version as OS-version-agnostic as possible

StreamDeck can replace a lot of mouse actions - Metagrid cannot without resorting to AHK or Keyboard Maestro. So I use both…unless I’m mistaken of course - is there something I should know?

Yeah, for sure. I forgot that I rely heavily on Bome doing the mouse actions for me. :+1:

Does SD allow for timing when carrying out mouse movements and clicks?. Because that’s one thing that is very important when dealing with different UI elements - some UI elements respond quickly and some, not so much.

Yes SD allow for pause action, so it can be used for mouse movement and clicks, but I’m too using both SD and MGP. With MGP on the Mac I use Keyboard Maestro to click on specific spots because it has the ability to click on found images, while on PC I use Bome thanks to @JTB that suggested the idea. BTW can Bome click on specific coordinates relative to a specific window? I just use it to click relative to the whole screen but I know that if I move a windows those specific actions will break. Is there a better way to do it?

Not that I know of. I just looked up some software that can move the mouse to image on Windows and it is pretty pricey.

I didn’t know this one but there are others that can do this

Macro Commander is the successor to Macro Toolworks that I used in the past and that was able to click to specific coordinates relative to the active window.
This is another useful function, sometimes even better than clicking on a specific image (that can have in some cases difficulty locating the right image) because if you move the window the click will be at the same position relative to the window in questions.

I don’t know how you’re using the click at position with Bome, I, for example, maximize the Key Editor to be sure to always click on the articulation menù, but with the Logical Editor windows I pay attention to not move the window because I never keep it maximized.

Macro Recorder is also supposedly able to click at a found image and the basic version at 38$ should be able to do so
