MetaGrid crashes are back

1. MetaGrid Pro crashes randomly
While using Cubase 14 MetaGrid suddenly vanishes on iPad. I can’t connect it to any particular action. Sometimes it takes an hour to happen. Sometimes it takes minutes of use.

2. Steps to Reproduce
No particular steps. But it seems the more actions I’m taking while working (e.g. operating plugins, moving stuff around, the faster the crash happens.

Thank you!!

Do you mean MetaGrid or MetaServer - you have sent the MetaServer logs.

Here they are, sorry about that.

It seems that there is an issue with your Desktop profile - can you send us (help@metagrid.app) your entire backup file for testing?

I just sent it. Thank you!

Thanks a lot for the detailed report and for attaching the crash logs and your backup — that’s really helpful :folded_hands:. We couldn’t replicate this behaviour while using your backup.

From what you describe, it looks like iOS itself is terminating the app (rather than MetaGrid Pro crashing in a way that shows up in the MGP/MetaServer logs). This usually points to system-level resource management on the iPad — iOS can kill backgrounded or high-memory apps when it decides resources are running low.

Here are a few steps you can try right away:

  1. Reboot the iPad – this clears out memory and background processes that sometimes cause iOS to be more aggressive with app termination.

  2. Check free storage – if the iPad is close to full, iOS will sometimes kill apps more aggressively. Try to leave a few GB free.

  3. Close background apps – double-check that nothing heavy is running alongside MetaGrid Pro.

  4. USB vs Wi-Fi – since you mention USB is more stable, stick with USB for now while we analyze the logs further.

  5. Send us the full iOS crash report – the one generated under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data on your iPad. That report will show exactly why iOS decided to stop MetaGrid Pro.

We’ll go through the logs you already attached and see if there’s a consistent pattern. If it does turn out to be iOS resource management, we may be able to optimize memory use further in upcoming builds.

Hi. I just sent the files requested.

I have already tried everything you suggested and it doesn’t fix the crashes. I’m even starting to question if USB really makes it crash less. It no longer feels that way.

Thanks.

Hi. Did you get a chance to check what I sent?

Thanks
