There seems to be large bugs in the style copy/paste commands. Have never got it to work consistently, but particularly basic background attributes and text never seemed to work. Plus more ‘complex’ copying of latch states ect sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. Does anyone else have issues with it?
It can and has led to buttons loosing the macros I’ve spent an age setting up, and with the undo button as well not really working, it’s more than annoying having to start all over again.
Surely a better and easier way to do this, (while keeping the copying options for when needed) is to allow changes for multi selected of objects to apply to all selected. E.g I’ve selected 10 buttons of different macros and text, but want to change the colour or background to something uniform, so changes effect all the items I’ve selected. Simple.
It really is the thing that makes building grids in MG much longer and fiddly than it needs to be in since diving into it, and has led to a lot of lost time and work.
Hi @jonny487 - thanks for the report and starting of this topic. Let’s make the whole experience smoother and single out the scenarios that you have found not reliable. We have made hundreds of grids with tons of style copy/paste actions and we haven’t spotted any issues with that. Please include the latching switch you find problematic and describe the actions you find buggy - we will fix it in the next bug fix release.
Yeah, same scenario here. Copying attributes across buttons rarely works as expected. Background Transparency always fails here. And undo/redo is sketchy.
Its almost too numerous to get into specific details, but copying background attributes almost never works if only that is selected. Likewise for text.
Copying for instance the on or off state of a latch is always problematic. Just yesterday for instance copied the latch-on of one object, pasted to 4 separate objects in the same pass and only 3 worked as it should, the 4th didn’t copy over. Likewise, what if I want to copy over the background colour of just the on state, I don’t think that’s possible
Even if working exactly as it should, its a (IMO) a cumbersome process of going and ticking through a list of what you wish to copy over. Almost all uses for this I would think is wanting to apply to same action or changes to multiple objects.
Surely a simpler and quicker solution would be to multi select the intended objects, apply a modifier key (‘shift’ for example) and any changes are applied to all selected objects. This is much more in line with how pretty much all editable software behaves.
Thanks again for the continued support and listening to feedback
I have observed these issues related to Style Copy/Paste and Undo on my side too ! The Latch Buttons are the most notorious. The Style Copy will paste only on the ‘Latch Off’ state. Despite explicitly going to the '‘Latch On’ state and pasting the Style, wherein the UI updates to show that it’s pasted, once you toggle between the states, it the ‘Latch On’ states goes back to how it looked previously. I have also seen it just refusing to the copy the style altogether.
