Actually, I’ve spent two days with the new versions. I’m working on an Intel MacPro running Sequoia 15.7 and mainly using Cubase 14.0.32 and Pro Tools 2025.6.1. I use three iPad Pros, two M4s and one last generation Intel on a new MacBook Pro M4 Max.
Overall, awesome! Every major issue I had is fixed. No incorrect grids popping up, no screen blanking, no random disconnections. Response is noticeably better. Yay!
Only things I noticed that remain in question:
When I attempt to access the Content Manager from Object or Layout mode MGP quits every single time. I can only access the CM from the Settings menu.
Occasionally, small bits of menubar text show up on the top of the screen in Grid Only mode. Ex: I’ll see part of the grid selection dropdown displayed in the upper left corner of the screen while NOT in Edit Mode. Activating Edit Mode and hitting OK again clears it away.
The Style menu remains confusing. It’s not clear that you MUST select a switch state in order to apply any other changes to a button. I’m not sure why it’s necessary to have to do this if you’re simply changing text size or icon color or something simple that has nothing to do with a switch. It’s even more confusing because this applies to buttons that don’t have switches (??).
I get that there’s a search bar available for importing, but alphabetizing sure would help. Or, at least the ability to re-order by date or name.
Speaking of alphabetizing, why do sub-folders of buttons or other elements show up in random order instead of alphabetically? Could they match how Finder is displaying them in the Metagrid folder?
That’s it. Small stuff. Otherwise, this version has been running great!
Not seeing that here on either of my 9th Gen iPad’s. Double tapping the arrow (top left) works as expected.
I prefer dates personally. If it could remain like this as default I would appreciate it. It means that the last item I exported is at the top of he list - no scrolling. I make a habit of deleting everything in iCloud after I have imported stuff. No need to have every button or grid I have exported in there - less scrolling.
I do, but not heavily. In the project I’m working on it doesn’t come up much because of the workflow. I don’t remember any issues with it over those two days, but I’ll check it out!
Weird. I don’t know what’s causing the crashes. I rebuilt-from-scratch some grids that seemed problematic and all of their issues went away. I wonder if re-building my main grids would solve the problem?
As for lists, I’m totally ok with By Date being the default. I only wish you could change it like you can in Finder. Listing different ways solves different issues. I have about 1100 buttons I’ve made over time that are categorized and sorted in folders. I pull out groups of them when I’m building new grids so their creation dates are all over the place. By Date makes finding things more tedious in that situation. Plus, in my own needy defense, I use a naming convention for everything in the studio so I can find anything easily in large data pools. But that’s just me. If I have to adapt, no problem. I leave the iCloud folder open when I’m making new grids anyway.
Hi Guys - we have just released 1.6.13 that fixes the DFT for the windows titles on all systems. As far as the export / import filtering - we will add both options in 1.6.14 early next month.
@McDub Please confirm if MGP crashes on the Content Manager access.
It’s still happening. The weird part is that it doesn’t happen with a couple of my newest grids. Otherwise, it’s every other grid. Do you think it’s something to do with the grids being a couple years old? Or that they’ve been modified and resaved so many times? Here’s a video (MGP 1.6.13 MetaServer 5.3.2.2957):
