Updated Video tutorial needed metaserver 6

Hi Przemek,

Could you please create an updated and comprehensive video tutorial showing how to install and configure MetaServer 6 with Cubase 15 on Windows?

Yesterday I spent an entire day trying to connect Cubase to MetaServer 6 using the new ports. One of the biggest issues was that MetaServer 6 was presented as not requiring MIDI Loop devices anymore, but it turns out that Windows users still need a virtual MIDI loop (such as loopMIDI) for proper communication.

Currently, the information is scattered across forum posts, PDF files, and various discussions. It is very difficult for new users to understand the complete setup process.

It would be extremely helpful to have a single, detailed video tutorial that explains:

  • How to install MetaServer 6 from start to finish.

  • Which Cubase folders and MetaGrid folders should contain which files.

  • Which ports should appear after installation.

  • How to activate and configure everything inside Cubase.

  • How the MIDI routing should be set up.

  • Common troubleshooting steps when the connection does not work.

I found the PDF guide, but it was not enough to clearly understand the complete process.

Please consider creating a step-by-step video tutorial that shows the entire workflow from a clean installation to a fully working setup. I believe it would save users many hours of frustration and reduce repeated support questions on the forum.

Thank you for your time and for continuing to improve MetaGrid.

Best regards,
A MetaGrid user

Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your feedback - the LoopMIDI ports are not needed if you have MIDI Services installed on latest Windows with latest KBs.

I will make the video within till the end of this week.

Once more, thank you for your feedback - we are doing our best here - we though that the instructions in the new MetaServer and the Online Help Guide are clear enough - but it seems it is not the case.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I am still using Windows 10.

I also recently noticed that Metaserver 6 shows the Logical Editor and Project Logical Editor files in red, indicating that they are not installed or detected correctly. I understand that this is a known issue, and I am simply waiting for a fix.

Thank you for the clarification and your help.
