Logic Pro 12 support

Hello, I’m stuck trying to set up MetaGrid Pro (using the Logic Pro Grid) with the new Logic Pro 12.0. Perhaps it’s not possible yet; otherwise, maybe there’s something I’m missing.

I have Logic activated in the MetaServer setup and copied the Logic Metasystem.bundle file into “MIDI Device Plug-ins.” However, I can’t find any MetaGrid device to install in the application (under Control surfaces/setup/add a new surface).

I’m running MetaGrid Pro 1.6.16 on both my MacBook Pro (Sequoia 15.7.3) and my iPad Air (iPadOS 26.2.1). My MetaServer version is 5.3.3. In general, my device does seem to be connected to the server, since commands in the Finder via MetaGrid are executed. However, it’s not communicating with Logic, and I don’t know how to get it to work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

No need to install the Logic bundle - since some versions ago we talk to Logic Pro directly through Apple Script. Remove the device, make sure MetaServer has got the permissions for Logic Pro :

Thank you. However, I still couldn’t get it working. In the list of permissions for MetaServer under Privacy & Security/Automation, I only see System Events and Keyboard Maestro. I already tried closing MetaServer, manually resetting the MetaServer permissions via tccutil, and then starting it up again. Still, only System Events and Keyboard Maestro request permissions, not Logic Pro. I can’t get it to appear in this list. Is there a way to force it?

Obviously, I don’t know how MetaServer works under the hood, so I can only guess. I should probably add that I’m using the Apple Creator Studio version of Logic Pro 12, which might have a different identifier (com.apple.mobilelogic). So maybe MetaServer isn’t actually trying to automate this specific version, which is why I’m not being asked to grant it permissions in the first place?

Hello, did you resolve the issue ? I have the same problem , it worked well with Logic 11 but not anymore after updating to Logic 12. It doesn’t appear below the metaserver permissions either.

EDIT : I just tried a basic midi macro NOTE ON, and it does play it on Logic, so these works, but all the other commands under DAW INTEGRATION don’t.. :frowning:

I did not fix this, so my suspicion is that MetaGrid doesn’t actually work yet with the current Logic Pro version (or at least not with the Apple Creator Studio version). Maybe this should be made transparent on the website where it lists Logic Pro under “Deep Integration with Leading DAWs.”

I can’t say for sure about NOTE ON, but since this is a MIDI command, it probably doesn’t get transmitted through AppleScript, unlike most of the DAW control commands, which is why it works.

Yes, I think the same. Actually when downloading the Logic basic grid it offers to create a new profile with the v11 icon, having both version installed, I tried it and it triggered the 11 version. With v12 opened it offers to create a new profile (with the v12 icon) but when installing the basic grid from the preset menu into this new profile it doesn’t trigger anything, so it does seem that it needs an update .. ! I’m on the 7 days trial as I wanted to be sure it was full compatible so I might wait to buy the full version until this is fixed !

I have tried a few more other macros, everything seems to be working except the Daw integration commands. I could replace every macro with the keyboard shortcut, but it’s a bit of a waste of time and I’d rather free some of my keyboard shortcut using MetaGrid instead of having them doubled..

That said, on their screenshot they have Logic Pro appearing under Metaserver, @MetaGrid_Admin was the screenshot taken with v12 Logic ? If so perhaps we’re just missing something ..

That’s mine =

Can you install MetaServer 6.0.0? Logic Pro 12 is definitely supported and should be added through the notification on Logic Pro start if it is not added. Let me know.

And …. here is stupid me. I wasn’t aware there was a new version. It does work now !
Hopefully this will help other people ! Thanks for clarifying that !

I did update to 6.0.0. DAW integration for Logic is activated in the MIDI menu, by the way. In the System Access menu under Automation, I only see “System Events,” “Keyboard Maestro,” and “Shortcuts.” No Logic Pro. In the “Privacy & Security” menu, I still only see “System Events” and “Keyboard Maestro” for the MetaServer app, and I’m pretty sure that’s because MetaServer still doesn’t actually ask the OS for permissions to control Logic Pro 12, which is why I can’t manually grant them.
