Controlling VEPro

I’m new to metagrid so apologies if this question is naive. I’m a dorico/VEpro user. What would help me greatly to reducing friction is if I could have a good way to control VEPro through MetaGrid on the iPad while always keeping Dorico in focus on my Mac. So the first question is whether metagrid HAS to follow the focus of what you’re doing on the metagrid server computer?

Second is for anyone using Metagrid to control VEPro, to what extent are you able to navigate around and open plugins, etc? How dynamic is it? I tried building something with the AI builder but the exposed keyboard shortcuts are pretty limited and surprisingly there’s nothing to select specific channels in the channel list or the mixer. I’m guessing I’d have to create some macros for some things? Maybe through keyboard maestro which I also have. Anyway any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You can control VEP automation while Dorico is in focus.

You can’t at this point. You’ll have to use KM to select channels. I use Bome MIDI Translator to send mouse clicks - one for the instance and another for the channel. Bome has a unique way of handling this with what’s called Presets. But KM will probably require that you have a dedicated MGP grid with dedicated buttons that send these mouse click commands on a per instrument/channel basis.

Thank you. I have some more things to look into then.

One other dumb question. Would I create macros in KM to do things in VEPro then create the MGP grid to use those KM macros? Is that correct?

I would create the grid first so you can test things as you go.
