Can Metagrid launch Mac applications in sequence or launch specific Cubase insert plugins/vst like Streamdeck can?

New to Metagrid, and I’m looking forward to setting up an awesome Cubase rig. I wanted to know, though,h if I’m able to launch Mac programs in sequence or specific Cubase insert plugins/VST’s like Streamdeck can. Would love to just use 1 app instead of 2. Thanks!

Hi @esimone00 - first of all, welcome to the forum  . Here are the answers:

  1. A macro in MetaGrid Pro can have multiple steps - so you can do app launching in sequence separated with pauses. If you want more “inteligent” behaviour, then you would need to create Keyboard Maestro macro and launch it from MetaGrid Pro.

  2. Regarding inserting plugins / VSTs - there is a method to semi-automatize it - you just need to put your cursor on the insert slot you want to insert the plugin - then you can create a macro that clicks the slot, enters the text string corresponding to the name of the plugin and presses the enter key.

is the inserting vst/plugins a keyboard maestro thing? If not, how would I implement this in Metagrid?

No, you don’t need KM to do this - here is the screenshot and the button. But naturally you can use the KM image recognition magic to move the mouse - with this macro you need to put the cursor on the insert slot you want to add the plugin.

Thanks! I’ve given up on the KM mouse record function. I spent hours reading the forums and doing it different ways and no luck so I’ll tey this method.

Mind sharing what it looks like to open up mac applications and then go to websites in sequence? I would to press a button in the morning and have it open up cubase, chrome and a few different websites.

@MetaGrid_Admin how do I install the .mbutton?

Enter the edit mode by tapping Edit, select a button, the Inspector pane will open - there are two buttons (Import / Export) - of course you should place the button in MetaGrid Pro’s Button folder on iCloud, Google Drive etc.
