Hi Metagrid Pro users,
Are any of you losing the sound effects when you press on button sin your grids?
This is happening to me at some point throughout the day. The clicking sound stops happening. If I go to switch from the “Standard Keyboard” sound to “Sci-Fi” that too doesn’t work. Quitting and re-opening Metagrid Pro restores the SFX when pushing grid buttons, but only for some period of time. At some point, the sounds stop working. I had a timer going this time and at some point after 30 minutes, but before one hour, the sounds stopped. The only apps I have open on my mac are Messages, Chrome, and Vienna Ensemble Pro. Switching between the apps doesn’t cause it to immediately happen. It’s a real annoyance for me and wondering if anybody else out in Metagrid Pro “Land” is also having this happen. One other note:
When the buttons stop making sound, other apps in my iPad continue to make sound so I don’t think it is an overall iPad audio issue.
Thanks!
I have been keeping a close eye on this issue today with the Metaserver Console open. I think I am noticing that the sounds stop working when 2 line items appear in the Console log.
These items happen exactly 1 hour apart. Please see the 2 attached images. I am referring to the “W app Manager URL does not exist: /Applications/Demos” and "W AppManager URL does not exist: /Developer Applications. I’m not 100% certain yet, but I believe I am losing sound when these items get logged.
Ben - we are working on this issue - and to be honest, we don’t know how to handle this - the original code and the working fix we had was killed by Apple - they said that the working solution that we had is not justified because our app is not a music/video player that requires continuous audio support. But it seems that after some time iOS is killing the audio in MGP on some devices - from our investigation it can be caused when MGP goes to background or for other arbitrary reasons - and it only seems that it happens on some systems. We are working hard to fix it though.
Some more info about this that might be helpful. Today, while using the ScreenFlow app to make a video demo, I was recording all of my computer audio via a loopback audio routing. I also had my iPad selected as one of the screens for ScreenFlow to record.
Everytime I pressed a button in MetaGrid, it produced the sound internally and it was recorded by ScreenFlow. I did NOT know this until I started editing the video in ScreenFlow because the sound was not being made for me to hear from my iPad while I was pressing the buttons during ScreenFLow recording. So the sound was being output from the iPad but ONLY to record in ScreenFlow, but not through the iPads internal speaker.
I just now tried to replicate this and have not been able to.
