Metagrid 1.6.10 - I'll try get straight to the point

This is the second time this year Metagrid Pro has a serious update issue and becomes unusable. I’ll try to keep my composure, though me and my whole studio are literally addicted to this app right now.

The app doesn’t display primary nor secondary grid selected in the scene setup form my Nuendo - it chooses arbitrary another grid. I’m trying to select the correct grid manually - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

I click another app in my Windows, then clicking back to Nuendo 14 - again, my primary/secondary grids don’t appear. Also, Metaserver Pro didn’t show any update available, I noticed there’s one just entering the Metasystem website. It’s described as 1.5.6, yet after the installation it indicatres it’s… 1.5.7. I don’t really understand where I am and what’s going on.

A couple of ideas before I consider other solutions than MGP:

  1. I have no idea what’s up with your beta testing, but it’s bad. Like - really, really bad and unacceptable.
  2. Why don’t I get any notification of any kind, whether I want to update or not? Why there’s no info telling me to backup my whole iPad before the update happens? You’re just throwing me into an abyss and I can’t do literally anything.
  3. Summing it up - do proper beta tests, notify/warn the user befor the update, if not - offer a stable previous version in any form, otherwise I seriously have to reconsider my choices.

I woke up to one of my iPads that had auto updated. And worse still, the backup I did in iTunes had been overwritten cause somehow the ‘Sync to computer’ was checked. :sweat_smile:

I just spent all day trying to work out why sh#t wasn’t working and why all my buttons looked crap. It turns out that if this version receives 2 or more of the same MIDI message to trigger a grid ( I’m using Bome MIDI Translator) MGP will display a blank background - not even a side bar. :rofl:

And my buttons (hundreds) all had Glow activated somehow so I had to go through an deactivate that.

Super stressful.

The blank screen thing is baffling. I have the same issue, except the new update cured most of it. :person_shrugging: I can still find spots where it occurs, but I’ve rebuilt grids, workspaces & profiles from scratch and it still happens. It didn’t occur for me until MetaServer 5.2.1, so it’s a total head scratcher. Some of the macros I was using to move around to certain grids are some of the oldest I have and have always worked perfectly until that update. Super strange.
