New Windows 11 update borked Metagrid/Metaserver

First off, I had no choice to avoid this update. Second, I do not have an option to roll it back/uninstall it.

I rely on Metagrid Pro. WIth this new update, loopMIDI no longer works, but there are built in loopbacks available for 1.0 and 2.0. It all seems simple enough. Create the loopback(s), add those ports to metaserver (for me i created 2 v1.0 ports, metaGrid and Reaper and assign them in metaserver (metasystem MIDI gets metaGrid in/out and Reaper gets Reaper in/Out.) Then in Reaper I assigned midi input from metaGrid to input + control, and output to Reaper.

however, this never worked. in the midi monitor now included in the new windows midi musician settings I see no midi activity on the metaGrid port when i press buttons on the iPad.

Pete Brown, lead MS audio dev is trying his best on discord and VI control but I’ve been down for 2 days.

Anyway, if the devs at metagrid could test the new Windows loopback midi functionality and make it work like loopMIDI did, I’d be eternally grateful. Until then I’m gridless.

that’s unexpected - we will be testing this tomorrow.

Hello Biped, I mostly take MIDI functionality for granted, but I see that you must have a pretty deep understanding of the current state of things. Can you let me know where I can access the windows midi musician settings?

Thanks, Matt

Sure, it’s all happening over on Discord mostly. Pete Brown is the Microsoft Audio Dev lead who has been very helpful answering questions and pushing out pre-releases.

That’s the direct link btw, not just a generic discord ad.

That link doesn’t seem to work for me. What’s the name of the server?

Windows MIDI / Audio also try this link: ttps://aka.ms/mididiscord
