MetaServer crashes on start - Windows

I recently upgraded Metagrid.

iPad: 1.7.3

Metaserver : 6.0.3 from version 5+

On start, Metaserver crashes on starting and is not in the system tray. I have added an exemption to Defender for the Metaserver folder to no avail. Where can I start to troubleshoot?

Hi, sorry you’re running into this. A Defender exclusion usually won’t help if MetaServer is crashing during startup.

Please check Windows Event Viewer:

  1. Press Win + R, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Go to Windows Logs → Application.
  3. Start MetaServer again, then refresh the log.
  4. Look for an error at the crash time—usually Application Error, .NET Runtime, or Windows Error Reporting.

Please send the error details, particularly the faulting module and exception code. You can also check View reliability history from the Start menu and open the MetaServer failure’s technical details.

Crash reports may be stored in:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\WER
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER

Please email us the Event Viewer error details and any crash dump files you find, along with your Windows version. Crash dumps may contain sensitive information, so please send them directly rather than posting them publicly.
