1. Summary/Title I’m not able to insert any VSTi’s into Cubase using the new functionality introduced in MG 1.7/MS 6.0.1. It works for VST-effects.
2. Steps to Reproduce I’ve created a button and added a VSTi plugin as described in the tutorial viedo. All plugins are available in the Cubase Plugin Action.
When I try this with Halion 7 for instance, I get an error message saying “Cubase refused to load Halion 7”. Same for all VSTi’s.
6. Device Information
Windows 11 Pro latest version
MG Pro 7, MS 6.0.1
Ipad air 3
Cubase Pro 15.0.30
7. Additional Notes Any other relevant information.
In the video they are talking about both effects and instruments. Quote from the video: Virtual instruments work the same way…". Then he creates a button with Zebra3.
I think I found the problem. My expectation was that using this functionality should create an Instrument track with the chosen VSTi. Unfortunately that is not the case. You must have created an Instrument track beforehand. Then the new functionality will switch to to VSTi in the button. If this is the case this functiony is rather useless since I have to create the track in advance .
There is no command “Add Instrument Track”, only “Add Track…”. and “Instrument”. Both opens a dialog for more input. The closest I can find that works is the macro:
Insert (Opens add track instrument with latest inserted VSTi)
Pause 1s
Enter (Creates the track with whatever VSTi vas latest used.)
Pause 1 s (Might not be enough if the VSTi prefilled in the dialog is “big”)
Insert VSTi (changes the VSTi loaded in previous step with new)
So this functionality is good for VST efx, but not for VSTi’s. At least for me.
Here is how I made it work, initially only effect plugins were available in MG Pro plugin list, when I have instrument track selected in Cubase and Refreshed the list of plugins in MG it gathered all VSTi plugins as well, then I programmed a button as in the picture to load Halion and it worked, it also worked with other VSTi
I still don’t see any VST at all. THe list will not populate. I updated today have all the latest Windows updates, MG server and MG Pro updates.
I edit a button, add a macro, press ‘Cubase Plugin’ and the blank screen that says Couldn’t load plugins comes up.
Anyone who has this working on windows, and maybe had an issue at first but fixed it, PLEASE let me know what you did! I really want to use this feature!!! THis is my midi remote window.
I frequently lose the Selected Channel Remote Connection, I checked inside Cubase midi ports and Cubase keeps receiving MIDI data from MGP but nothing goes out from Metasystem Cubase Sync port. MIDI Remote Manager says “Disconnected”. Something glitchy in these MIDI ports still.
I’m also having issues at startup. MG server is not seeing midi services, I try to stop and restart midi services but the services won’t stop and I get an error. THen I have to reboot and then it works. I may go back to loopMidi since I can’t get the vst to list anyway.
Edit: I get an error in the services window, but then I go to task manager and force a shutdown of midi services (search for midi) instead of rebooting, and then in the services window and I can start the service again. then in MG server I redetect MG server sees the midi service and connects.
